SQMi completes first export of Australian-produced lithium hydroxide.

This milestone follows two years of successfully exporting spodumene and steadily building the operational experience, technical capability and organisational confidence required to move downstream into battery-grade chemicals. It represents an important step in SQMi’s evolution as a global lithium producer and reinforces Australia’s role in the international clean-energy supply chain.

The shipment is the result of years of collaboration and perseverance across SQMi, our joint-venture partner, WesCEF, and our JV operator, Covalent Lithium. It reflects what can be achieved when strong partnerships, disciplined execution and a shared long-term vision come together.

In parallel, SQMi is pleased to confirm that its lithium hydroxide from the Kwinana Refinery has been certified under the International Lithium Association’s (ILiA) Product Carbon Footprint guidelines and ISO 14040/44 standard. The assessment demonstrates a 37% lower emissions footprint compared to traditional lithium hydroxide production pathways, highlighting both the technical strength of our operations and the environmental advantages of producing battery chemicals in Australia.

This certification reinforces SQMi’s commitment to responsible production and continuous improvement across the lithium value chain, supporting customers seeking transparent, lower emissions supply for the global clean energy transition.

We extend our sincere thanks to the many teams and people involved, both on the ground and behind the scenes. Their commitment, attention to detail and determination have been critical in reaching this milestone.

The first export of our Australian-produced lithium hydroxide is a moment worth recognising and an exciting foundation for the next phase of SQMi’s growth.
