Acquisition of Azure Minerals completed

SQM and Hancock Prospecting have completed the AU$1.7b Takeover of Azure Minerals.

This investment in Azure Minerals aligns with SQMi’s vision to lead the world in lithium solutions to enable the global energy transition.

As a specialized lithium chemical processor, SQMi actively seeks to strengthen and expand its existing business through exploration and merger and acquisition activity.

Azure Minerals Andover Lithium Project has the potential to be a major lithium project. Combining SQMi’s lithium chemical expertise and technical knowledge with Hancock Prospecting, one of Australia’s largest and most well-respected mining and exploration companies, will advance this world-class deposit towards development.

The Andover project is located in the West Pilbara region of WA and is in the exploration phase. As at end April 2024, a total of 113,419m of lithium-focused drilling has been carried out, resulting in broad, high-grade lithium intersections being delivered on a consistent basis.

A further lithium deposit discovered at Andover’s Target Area 3 confirmed consistent thickness and grade of the lithium mineralisation within the AP0004 and AP0002 pegmatites. The discovery confirmed a major lithium-mineralised system is present at Target Area 3, indicating that Andover has the potential to be a lithium project of global significance.

Azure has also uncovered several significant bodies of nickel, copper and cobalt sulphide mineralisation at Andover.
