Spodumene Concentrate

From mineral to market.

A Key Feedstock for Lithium Compounds

Spodumene concentrate is a vital raw material in the production of lithium compounds.

SQMi is engaged in the commercialisation of chemical-grade spodumene concentrate, a lithium aluminum silicate mineral with the chemical formula LiAlSi₂O₆. Spodumene concentrate is used to produce lithium compounds, including lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate—essential components in energy storage, electric mobility, and industrial applications.
SQMi’s spodumene concentrate is sourced from our 50/50 joint venture, Covalent, which operates the Mt Holland Lithium Projectin Western Australia. The product typically contains approximately 5.5% lithium oxide (Li₂O), ensuring a consistent and high-quality feedstock for lithium refineries.

This reliable supply chain, backed by SQMi’s technical expertise and Covalent’s operational excellence, supports the production of battery-grade lithium compounds with full traceability from mine to market.
